Students enrolling in the Indigenous Studies program will have an excellent opportunity to study the Indigenous perspective and how it relates to disciplines involving art, law, philosophy, politics, history, gender studies, ecology, business, customs, and language.

All of the classes in Indigenous Studies are taught from the Indigenous perspective - this makes our program the most unique and one of the most soughtafter programs in Canada. The majority of our courses are taught by instructors who are professionals in their fields with real-world experience, many of whom are known nationally and internationally.

Indigenous and non-Indigenous students also have access to an Indigenous Advisor, through the Registrar's Office, who can assist them in many different areas including housing, course planning and selection, as well as personal counselling and encouragement.

Indigenous Studies students have a very active presence on campus through the Indigneous Student's Union (ISU). This student club sponsors an annual pow-wow and Indigenous Awareness Week, which includes art shows, guest speakers of national and international reputation, as well as other community events.

Students in the Faculty of Arts and Science have a number of special opportunities available including:

  • Participation in Conferences
  • Co-authorship of papers/publications
  • Involvement with professors on research projects
