Learning Facilitators (LF) play a key role in the LTPD Coaching Pathway. The LF takes on the responsibility for training and developing coaches who are looking to enhance their own individual experience and qualifications through formal training and certification programs.</p><p>Prior to last season, Wong decided to take a step back from the program after 15 seasons as head coach. The Horns made two playoff appearances during her 15 seasons at the helm of the program, with the last being in 2007 when the club lost in the Canada West quarter-final. Wong was also named the Canada West coach of the year that season.</p><p>&ldquo;Ilsa will be a welcomed addition to our day-to-day coaching staff as she brings a great deal of experience,&quot; says Trinh.</p><p>The Horns will open training camp for the 2016 season in early August and the 2016 season will commence in early September. He was also a beloved summer camp leader, teacher and husband whose passion and enthusiasm touched everyone around him. Karpati passed away last November.</p><p>Jim Steacy (BASc &rsquo;09) will be honoured as the 2014 Senior Male Athlete. In his 15th year as a track and field athlete, Steacy won a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland and captured his 10th Canadian Senior National Hammer Throw title. Despite having to cope with the unexpected death of his mother last April and recovering from surgeries to both feet, Steacy showed steely determination in completing his most successful season since 2009.</p><p>The 2014 Senior Female Athlete award will go to Liz Gleadle, Olympic athlete and a former U of L student. Gleadle overcame injuries that left her unable to compete for most of 2013 to break her Canadian record in women&rsquo;s javelin. Highlights of the year include being ranked 10<sup>th</sup> in the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) world rankings, representing Canada at the Commonwealth Games, and winning a bronze at the IAAF Continental Cup and a gold at the Birmingham Diamond League. After putting forth a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, beating the Griffins 3-0 and not allowing the Griffins to register a shot on goal, the Pronghorns generated a lacklustre performance on Sunday and dropped a 3-1 decision to the same Griffins.</p><p>Coming off their first ever CIS Championship tournament appearance last year, the Saskatchewan Huskies have started the season on a torrid pace, outscoring their opponents 16-3 in posting four consecutive wins. The Huskies had a bye last week, but handily beat MacEwan 免费福利资源在线看片 two weeks ago, 5-0 and 5-1.</p><p>Following this weekend&rsquo;s games, the Horns will not be home again until Oct. 18-19 when they host the Calgary Dinos.</p><p><strong>Karp&#39;s Korner</strong></p><p>At the conclusion of Saturday&rsquo;s game, the men&rsquo;s soccer program will be hosting an official dedication of &#39;Karp&rsquo;s Korner&#39;, a playground at the stadium that is being built to recognize and honour former player and current Horns assistant coach Marcus Karpati, who is battling cancer. Marcus has a passion for children and soccer and the Horns soccer program felt that this was a way to combine these passions at a location that means so much to him.</p><p><strong>Women hit the road</strong></p><p>Following a four-game homestand, the Pronghorns women&rsquo;s soccer team (0-4-2) begins a stretch of four consecutive games on the road with a pair of matches this weekend in Winnipeg versus the Winnipeg Wesmen.</p><p>The Horns are scheduled to take on the Wesmen Friday and Saturday night with both kick-offs scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST).</p><p>Through six games this season, the &lsquo;Horns have been sound defensively but their offensive attack has not been able to find its stride. The U of L has only surrendered seven goals in six games, including three goals in the first game of the season, but have only scored one goal in those six games.</p><p>Second-year goalkeeper Micaela Stone made her first appearance of the season last weekend and had a solid performance, combining for 13 saves over two games versus the Regina Cougars. She surrendered just one goal, in the Horns&#39; 1-0 loss on Sunday.</p><p>Early in the season the Winnipeg Wesmen (0-4-0) have also had their struggles and have yet to earn a point. After transferring from Medicine Hat College last year, Siwella missed the entire 2014 season due to an injury but has regained his Canadian College All-Canadian form this summer with LFC.</p><p>Returning incumbent keeper Tyler Boast will bring stability to the last line of defence in his fourth year of eligibility. In addition to kicking the ball well all weekend, for both points and field position, Wideen also led the Horns&#39; defensive effort.</p><p>In the club&#39;s heartbreaking 29-18 semifinal loss to the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Calgary Dinos, Wideen kicked two penalty goals and converted one of the Horns two tries on the day. The Dinos ended the Horns&#39; 22-game conference winning streak last season with a 31-18 win and then knocked the Horns out of title contention with a 33-32 victory in the Canada West semifinal in Edmonton.</p><p>The Horns are led by Kim Leavitt&rsquo;s three tries, which places her in a tie for second in the conference, and Tiffany Wideen, who has taken over the kicking duties this season and has connected on three converts. For the Dinos, Natasha Loucks leads a balanced attack with three tries and Kate Scotland has connected on six converts and two penalty goals for 18 points.</p><p>Sunday, the Horns take on the defending Canada West champion Alberta Pandas (3-0). So far, the Pandas have yet to be tested.
