Family lawyer Kathleen Wells (BA '98) acts as an advocate for her clients on a daily basis. She is also an active advocate for planned giving.

"Making a planned gift was simple - anybody can do it," she says. "It's important to think about the future. You have to plan for your death, just like you plan for your life, and you need to think about what kind of legacy you want to leave."

Alumnus Kathleen Wells is planning to help future generations of U of L students.

It's personal advice that Kathleen knows only too well - several years ago her late husband, Mike Peterson, passed away after a battle with cancer. Before he died, Kathleen and Mike discussed their mutual desire to support education. Today Kathleen is fulfilling this goal and has made an allowance for the U of L in her will.

"Establishing a bequest was an easy way to support my commitment to the ��Ѹ��Դ��߿�Ƭ. It brings me happiness to know that our lives - both Mike's and mine - will benefit U of L students in the future."
