Andrew Courtney helped the Ãâ·Ñ¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ÔÚÏß¿´Æ¬ of Lethbridge men's hockey team to three of a possible four points this past weekend, earning him dual honours as Subway Pronghorn Male Athlete of the Week and Male Athlete of the Week.
Courtney, a fourth-year forward out of Belleville, Ont., scored four times in a home-and-home series with Ãâ·Ñ¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ÔÚÏß¿´Æ¬ of Calgary .
Thursday night, in the Pronghorns' home opener at Nicholas Sheran Arena, Courtney scored two power play goals, including the game-tying goal that forced overtime, in the Horns' 4-3 shootout win. He was also credited with a team high seven shots on goal.
On Saturday night, despite falling 6-5 in another shootout decision, Courtney picked up another two goals, including the tying goal for the second consecutive game. His shorthanded marker in the second period kick started the Horns' four-goal comeback.
Meanwhile, Pronghorns women's rugby captain Ashley Patzer captured Subway Pronghorns Female Athlete of the Week honours as she led the Horns past provincial rival .
In a battle of the top two teams in Canada West, Patzer sparked the Horns to a 22-7 victory over the . The 2008 CIS Championship MVP picked up 12 of the Horns' 22 points, scoring a try, kicking two converts and adding a penalty goal as the top-rated Horns earned a big win over the fifth-ranked Pandas.
With the win the Horns claimed the top seed heading into the conference championships this weekend where they will face the Canada West fourth seed, , in the first semifinal Friday in Edmonton.
