The Marlowe seminar will explore the work of聽(arguably) the second most significant playwright in
the language, and certainly one of the most聽important influences on the greatest playwright in
the language, Shakespeare. The advantage of聽Marlowe's tragic early death at the age of 29 means
that we will have time to explore all of his seven聽plays, as well as his most important poems,
including one of the most admired non-dramatic聽works of the English Renaissance, Hero and Leander.
Assignments will include a shorter paper, a longer聽paper and a seminar presentation.
