Whether you鈥檙e curious about starting your first vinyl collection or looking to deepen your knowledge as an experienced collector, this course explores the rich world of music collecting, from digital libraries and streaming platforms to vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and other emerging audio formats.
Through demonstrations, discussions, listening sessions, and readings, students will learn about topics such as turntables and playback equipment, stereo system fundamentals, record care and storage, cataloguing collections, grading and valuing records, crate digging, identifying pressings, and navigating record stores online or in person.
Students will also explore the history of recorded sound and how advances in technology have shaped the way we listen to recorded music.
