National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women

Presented by the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence聽Coordinator in Student Services and Accessibility, Belonging and聽Community聽Office and hosted by the聽ULethbridge聽Library,聽this workshop honours Canada鈥檚 National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. December 6聽commemorates the 14 women murdered in the 1989 脡cole Polytechnique massacre.聽

This Awareness to Action: Gender-Based Violence in the Digital Age聽workshop is part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign that calls for collective action to end gender-based violence in all its forms. This year鈥檚 theme on digital violence highlights the growing threats faced by women, girls, and gender-diverse people online.聽聽

The campus聽community is invited join us to explore how technology both amplifies harm and offers new tools for safety, advocacy and solidarity. The session will be hosted by Leah Webster in the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge Women's Peace Memorial Garden where we will reflect on the ongoing impact of gendered violence and聽our ongoing聽institutional聽commitment聽to creating safer spaces for all.聽

Leah Webster is the Sexual and Gender-based Violence Prevention聽Coordinator at the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge聽in Student Affairs. With a decade of experience working in violence prevention in various capacities, Leah has provided聽compassionate support to individuals聽impacted聽by violence and is deeply聽committed to fostering safer, more inclusive聽communities. Her work centres on prevention and education strategies, empowering others with the knowledge and tools to recognize, respond to and prevent聽sexual and聽gender-based聽violence.聽聽

Coffee,聽hot聽chocolate聽and cookies聽will be served.聽
The campus community is invited to stay following the workshop for a plant pot painting activity until 2 p.m.
