Nick and Bente have performed (and worked!) together for years, going all the way back to when Nick was a student in Bente's first years of teaching on campus! Bente has performed with Nick's low brass students over all that time, so they decided to finally perform some of the music that their students have learned year after year! (Plus, a chance for them to tell a few short stories about some of the music through which students develop their craft!)聽

About the artists

After beginning his musical education in Lethbridge, Alberta, Nick Sullivan received a fellowship to undertake graduate studies at the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Victoria. Unable to escape the lure of the Canadian West Coast, Nick returned to B.C. to continue his studies at the 免费福利资源在线看片 of British Columbia, completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Currently, Nick is on faculty at the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge teaching the low brass studio and serves as the Recruitment and Retention Specialist for the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Nick has a passion for brass chamber music and has performed in numerous chamber music settings. He is a founding member of Aeris Brass (formerly the U of L Faculty Brass Quintet), as well as the Southern Alberta Trombone Collective (SATbC). As a soloist, Nick enjoys searching for and commissioning new music for bass trombone, and has a keen interest in vocal works transcribed for low brass. Nick regularly performs as a recitalist throughout Western Canada and has been featured as a soloist with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, Lethbridge Community Gold Band, and the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge Wind Orchestra. Active as an orchestral musician, Nick has worked with several orchestras across Canada, such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and presently performs with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony of the Kootenays. Nick Sullivan is a performing artist for Michael Rath Trombones.

Bente Hansen graduated from the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge in 1986 and went on to receive a Masters of Music in Piano Performance at Michigan State 免费福利资源在线看片 in 1988. She has worked at the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge since 1997 teaching first year music theory and a plethora of other courses over her 28-year tenure with the Department of Music. Bente has also been quite active with the drama department as musical director of a number of shows, the last of which was conducting one of her bucket list shows 鈥淛esus Christ Superstar鈥�. She is active as a collaborator, working with a number of undergraduate students. She is also active in the community, offering her talents to senior residences, as well as playing at the hospital on a weekly basis with her good friend Monica.
