Emerging Scholars Collective Workshop Retreat

Join fellow emerging scholars for a one-day professional development retreat hosted at the beautifulÌýNikka Yuko Japanese Garden. The day will include workshops on teaching at the Ãâ·Ñ¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ÔÚÏß¿´Æ¬ of Lethbridge, an introduction to the Tri-Agency funding landscape, and dedicated time for course preparation and grant writing. Coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided, along with opportunities for networking and collaboration. The Emerging Scholars Collective supports early-career faculty by fostering a diverse and engaged academic community and creating spaces to share ideas, seek advice and build interdisciplinary connections.

Session DescriptionsÌý
Teaching at the U of L with The Teaching CentreÌý
This session will provide an overview of key requirements for course design based on student learning policies and procedures, including guidelines related to final exams and major assessments. Participants will then have dedicated time to apply these principles in practice, working collaboratively on syllabus development or other course planning materials. Ìý

Intro to the Tri-Agency Landscape with ORISÌý
This session will begin with a brief overview of the Tri-Agency funding landscape, including subject matter eligibility, shared application components, and general grantsmanship strategies, along with key internal processes. It will be followed by 30–45 minute breakout sessions focused on agency-specific guidance for NSERC, SSHRC and CIHR, each addressing their distinct expectations, review criteria and program structures.
