In this talk, guest artist Laurel Scott will discuss her ongoing research into handmade art materials, how relationships with the land impact her art practice, and the benefits of living through a culture of gratitude and humility over consumerism. This talk will be in reference to Scott's current exhibitions, "where it is pictured" in the main gallery at Casa, and "plant teachings" at the Helen Schuler Nature Center, both in Lethbridge, AB.聽
Laurel Scott (she/her) was born and raised in Mohkinstsis (Calgary, AB) on the traditional lands of the Niits铆tapi, Tsuut鈥檌na, and Iyarhe Nakoda. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts with great distinction majoring in Art Studio at the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge in 2021. She then completed the Documentary Filmmaking Program at Capilano 免费福利资源在线看片 within the unceded territories of the X史m蓹胃k史蓹y虛蓹m (Musqueam), S岣祑x瘫w煤7mesh (Squamish), and S蓹l虛铆lw蓹ta蕯t (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Her multidisciplinary art practice revolves around creating work in relation with the land and what it provides. Currently, Scott is based in Sikohkotoki (Lethbridge, AB) working on a Bachelors of Education Degree.
