Program description
The Bachelor of Health Sciences major in Addictions and Mental Health Counselling at the Ãâ·Ñ¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ÔÚÏß¿´Æ¬ of Lethbridge is the only undergraduate Canadian program of its kind. The program gives students the knowledge they need to guide people through the addiction recovery process. Students will complete a 13-week internship, offering them valuable clinical experience to prepare them for their careers.
The program provides students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed for a role in treatment, prevention, and health promotion wherever addiction affects people's lives. It focuses on a range of addictive behaviours and intervention strategies, including substance abuse, problem gambling, and sexual or eating disorders. The program includes a thorough study of current issues in addictions, and an intensive training in counselling skills.
Graduates from this program earn a Bachelor of Health Sciences with a major in Addictions and Mental Health Counselling.

In addition to the , applicants to the Addictions Counselling Post-Diploma program must have completed an Approved College Diploma and have a minimum diploma GPA of 3.00 on the Ãâ·Ñ¸£Àû×ÊÔ´ÔÚÏß¿´Æ¬ of Lethbridge 4.00 scale. If you are considering applying to the program with a diploma GPA below 3.00 (but not less than 2.00), you may be considered for admission if you have extensive practical experience in a relevant field.
The Faculty of Health Sciences will consider other diplomas in Addictions Counselling on a case-by-case basis.
All applicants to the Faculty of Health Sciences must meet a Spoken English Language Proficiency requirement.
