Biography

The primary research focus of Dr. Brendan Ritchie is on the neural basis of high-level vision and associated cognitive processes. He approaches this topic with a particular focus on linking neural responses measured using neuroimaging techniques (fMRI and M/EEG) to various behavioural measures (e.g., choice and reaction time) via computational models that draw from machine learning, AI, and mathematical psychology. The overarching goal of his research is to understand how the brain makes sense of the complexities of real world visual scenes in order to guide natural behaviour.

In addition to his primary research focus, Dr. Ritchie has a number of interdisciplinary interests. He also interested in the philosophy of science as it relates to the explanatory practices of cognitive neuroscience and allied discplines, and is an affiliate member of the Department of Philosophy at the 免费福利资源在线看片 of Lethbridge. He is also passionate about the intersection of science and art, and how visual art can be used to illustrate important principles about how we see and think.
